Wilted

No wonder, the prompt for the middle of September is Wilted. After all, autumn is coming our way. Even with the many people on the beach, even with the short skirts and bare legs we walk around with. So, my mood took me where it needed to. Plus, I found a great piece of art to go with my haiku. Read on.

Wilted in the rain
Of loneliness are branches.
Tone- and colour-blind.

Days 10 to 14 of Haiku

In a last attempt to catch up, here I come, firing five instead of one, or two, or even three haiku away. Here is the place for proper linking, too. The September Heights prompt for Day 14 at Haiku Heights is River. That reminded me of Boney M’s song ‘The Rivers of Babylon’, and I stole a phrase from the lyrics. Mhm, no prosecution, please.

Day 10: Kitchen

After-summer chaos,
Come back to oven hot meals,
Prepare coziness.
*

Day 11: Tradition

Slow, secure, stale –
Summary of boredom,
Walk away so still.
*

Day 12: Holy

Holy as intended
Struggle deep within the rain,
Wings will raise the storm.
*

Day 13: Superstition

Like the secret whisper,
Round the fire, summer nights,
Camping mindless.
*

Day 14: River

There we wept so sad,
Hugging tight the pets we loved
Doomed to float away.

Three In One

As days go by too fast and I can’t catch up, today I will post three haiku in the same post, as I won’t manage otherwise. I’m still on the September Heights month-long challenge and here are the haiku I wrote for the prompts of Days 7, 8 and 9: Dove, Garland and Decision.

Dove

Hungry for the sky
Flying in your dreams of love
Forgetful of pain.
*

Garland

Blissful as the heart
With beads and tassels flowing
Harmony of light.
*

Decision

Sit under a tree
Watch as the sun travels
Thoughts empty as husk.

Teacher

The prompt of September Heights for Day 6 is Teacher. It is no secret that teaching is my favourite profession. As a philologist, I have three: teacher, translator and editor. I have worked all. To me, teaching is the most special of those, as it concerns life and destiny in construction, values acquisition and learning self- and environment-awareness beside all the rest. What a teacher must be is humane. What a teacher must do is open the door and inspire.

Here is my haiku on Haiku Heights prompt:

Door will open warm
Colours play with flower buds.
Tomorrow is here.

Ballet

Day 5 – the prompt at September Heights challenge, held by Haiku Heights is Ballet. How wonderful. I can’t help but notice that my haiku is not very bright this season. Maybe because I can only spare some scanty time to write, and no time to think at all, in addition to no time to feel and contemplate. That lack starts gnawing on me. Very sad. But, enough blah-blah, off to the poem.

Shepherd

The September Heights of Haiku is going on, and this is my Day 4:

Stray, confused, in ugliness,
In need of order,
Love rains no mercy.

Glitter from the forest
Morning is forever light
Warming coldly.

***
Always in my mind
Before my eyes weird
Blabber out all folly.

***
Night silence to catch
my whisper as I try to
save my breath inside.

***
Harmony flows of
Somber light shaping belief
My soul acquiesces.
