Amber Auntie Visiting

Obviously, today is a day for poetry. Here is a poem I wrote after two different prompt web sites, both strong favourites of mine. One prompt comes from Three Things Challenge #M977 – Aunt; Ash; Amber. The other was suggested this Wednesday at the Writers Digest poetic blog #731 – Home

voyage to winter

Each amber summer, my sweet and lovely aunt would visit
Oh, how we played and danced under random trees outside!
The beach was ours, too – not just the park.
Oh, how we hopped the waves – yelling, screaming, laughing!
The castles we built during the day;
The pastry she taught me to bake at dusk;
And all the cute stories and small gossip we shared…
Before the home we dwelt in, and all its memories,
And pictures with them, turned to ash
Which got sprinkled over a mystery field
Out of reach of anyone living.

New Year’s Awesome Photo – TTC poem

Yay, Happy New Year, everyone! May it be healthy and lucky for all, full of pleasant moments of affection and beauty of experience! So, here I am – poeming my very first verse of the year. I went through my WordPress Reader and picked the Three Things Challenge prompt #M927 – Actor, Able and Aft.

Here is what I coined:

Open my eyes
And I see
Outside is still winter
Albeit sunny and sweet
The able actor that I am
I stride powerfully to the ship’s aft
And pose for a fabulous
New Year’s picture –
A dreamer ruminating over the days past
And days to come.

My Flowing Verse Will Hear Your Heart

Flowing with the current
is
my flowing verse.

Can you or can’t you
do it yourself
dye it in your favourite colour?

Hear it say
‘I love you.’

Flow, my versatile verse,
canning the can that is doing to do.

Hearts and souls are abundant
for you.

An amazing prompt today, at Three Things Challenge #M604 – Flowers / Candy / Hearts. Truly deserving the attention in the spirit of today. I am not a fan of this holiday, as it was introduced in my country later and somewhat artificially. Anyway, love is the most important thing in life and it has to be celebrated day in, day out. Celebrate and enjoy other poems at the original prompt site above.

Grab the Opportunity

Grab the opportunity
They say a bird perches but once
On your shoulder
All you have to do is reach.

Headway, usually slow, is certain
If you don’t stop and right is on your side
It could be heady if your path is icy
So potent that its taste gets juicy.

Grab that bird, don’t cage it
Stroke its feathers, let it go
And make sure your headdress is firmly on
Should it decide to thank and drop a bomb.

Today’s poem is an answer to the prompt at #TTC – the Three-Things Challenge web site. The words for the day are Headway, Headdress and Heady. I had fun writing the poem. I hope you had fun reading it, and you can also drop by the TTC Blog to read more offerings.
