The #forumfriday edition is on its way to you:
come join in a free discussion of the following Biblical verse:
“One more thing have I observed here under the sun: swiftness does not win the race nor strength the battle. Food does not belong to the wise, nor wealth to the intelligent, nor success to the skilful; time and chance govern over all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11, The Revised English Bible)
I make a motion for a particular modification of the observation. In fact, I have observed that not time, but connections and chance govern over all.
Don’t you think that connections, and especially the appropriate good connections, have taken the upper hand in the struggle for self-promotion? By self-promotion, I mean the things mentioned in the Biblical verse: forward movement, career progress, and attaining recognition, for that is the core of the verse, isn’t it?
